Creating Custom Objects in Oracle Fusion Applications

Objects

One of the primary customization options available to you when using the Oracle Fusion CRM Application Composer is the ability to extend a CRM application's object model. Customize CRM objects by adding new fields to an existing object (standard objects), or create entirely new objects (custom objects).

Standard objects are objects that are delivered with a CRM application, and made available to the Application Composer for customization.

Custom objects are objects that you create using the Application Composer.

Creating a Custom Object

1)      Select an application on the main Overview page of the Application Composer. In the screenshot below, the application selected is Sales.

1)      Click on the Create object icon to create a new object.

1)      Fill the objects details in the create new object window.

Ø  Display Label :  An object's display label is the user-friendly label for an object, and also becomes the default page title for the object's work area.
Ø  Plural Label :  The plural label is used when the object is displayed as the detail section of a master-detail page, such as on a subtab.
Ø  Record Name Label : Use the Record Name field to specify the display label for the object's RecordName field. The RecordName field stores the "name" of the record.
Ø  Object Name : The object name is the internal name for the object.

1)      Verify that the object got created in the Custom objects.

Extending Oracle Fusion Applications CRM

The Oracle Fusion CRM Application Composer is a browser-based configuration tool that enables business analysts and administrators, not just application developers, to customize and extend an Oracle Fusion CRM application. The Application Composer is a design time at runtime tool, which means that you can navigate to the Application Composer directly from
a CRM application, make your changes, and see most changes take immediate effect in real time, without having to sign back in to the application. We can focus on the application changes that our business requires (object model extensions and layout changes, for example), and the Application Composer creates the underlying object artifacts for us.

To access Application composer

Navigator --> Application Composer

Once you click on the application composer , you will be redirected to the application composer overview page where you perform tasks like :
1)      Customize objects by adding new fields, or create entirely new objects.
2)      Create foreign key-based relationships between two objects.
3)      Customize Enterprise pages by exposing your newly created fields for an
object, or create an entirely new work area for your newly created objects.
4)      Write application logic, such as triggers, validation rules, and workflows,
for an object or for use across multiple objects.
5)      Implement functional and data-level security for custom objects.
6)      Enable objects for custom reporting.

The Application composer overview page is as shown below :

The following applications are available under the fusion CRM :
1)      Oracle Fusion Common CRM
2)      Oracle Fusion Customer Center
3)      Oracle Fusion Marketing
4)      Oracle Fusion Sales
5)      Oracle Fusion Sales Catalog

Note : Creation of custom objects is not supported for Common and Sales Catalog application.

Introduction to Oracle Fusion

Oracle acquired Siebel in 2006 and peoplesoft in 2005 which had already occupied JD Edwards in 2003. After the acquisition of Siebel, Peroplesoft etc , Oracle introduced Fusion which uses the best functionality for all the application suites and create a single super ERP. The Oracle fusion has a data model which is union of the datamodels of Siebel,Peoplesoft etc. Fusion is not only an attempt at releasing an integrated suite of applications from the Oracle, PS, JDE, and Siebel lines. The real goal of Fusion is to present a process integration layer that spans across all your organization’s applications, regardless if they are Oracle apps or not.

The Oracle has not yet released the hardware requirements for the fusion applications but it requires approximately 128 gb RAM and is recommended mainly in the Linux Platform. The installation of the oracle fusion application is complex compared to the installation of other Oracle products. The installables for oracle fusion applications is around 70gb. This itself signifies the complexity of the application.

I paln to share my journey through the oracle fusion application through this blog. A great   welcome to all your comments and suggestions. Lets together explore this new oracle fusion Application.

GOOD LUCK IN ADVANCE
